Lets celebrate 75 years of first talkie of Indian filmdom !!!!!!!!
‘Alam Ara’

The film is about the king of Kumarapur’s two queens, both childless. A fakir’s prediction that the good queen Navbahar will bear a son comestrue, and queen Dilbahar who fancies Adil, chief of the army, is jealous. She is spurned and she has him imprisoned. Sdil’s wife dies giving birth to Alam Ara (Zubeida) who grows up in a gypsy camp. One night, she gors to the palace in search of her father, when a charm around her neck reveals her identity. There she meets the young prince (Vithal) and they fall in love. In the end, Adil is released, dilbahar punished and the loves marry.

This cinema created a new era in Indian film industry, when realeased at the Majestic theatre in Mumbai, on March 14, 1931.
Thus on March 14, 2006, Alam Ara turns 75!!!! Alam Ara is a revolutionary film in many context, It brought sound to the films in India and set the song and dance routine as the mainstay in Bollywood. Master Vithal, Zubeida, Prithviraj Kapoor and Wazir Mohammed Khan starred in film that had the first song De de khuda he naam pe pyare making Wazir Mohammed Khan the first singer of the Indian film industry.
